Matte Painter/Visual Development Artist

Our teams are hard at work on our next films, The Princess and the Frog, directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, Rapunzel, directed by Byron Howard and Nathan Greno and King of the Elves, directed by Aaron Blaise and Robert Walker.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Matte Painter/Visual Development Artist

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Work with the Art Director and Look Paint Supervisor to design environments based on story and script
•Painter/Visual Development Artist is responsible for conceptualizing and visualizing ideas, including the creation of digital complex backgrounds, landscapes and environments
•Provides foreground, mid-ground, and background paintings for use in CG environment
•Responsible for conceptualizing and designing: architecture, lighting and graphics, which adhere to the Directors overall vision of the project
•Assists with troubleshooting the background components created
•Work with Layout and Modeling to take these ideas from visual development pieces to production ready elements

Other Responsibilities

Qualifications:
•Portfolio requiring samples of Matte Painting and Animation Background Paintings along with traditional painting
•Strong knowledge of Photoshop and Linux
•Experience with Compositing and 3D animation systems such as Maya and Renderman a plus
•A strong understanding and experience of working as a Visual Development Artist
•Experience painting mattes and set extensions
•High skill level in painting, composition, perspective and color
