Programming Department Manager

Essential Functions

General Description:

Ubisoft Chengdu is seeking a talented programmer with some management experience looking to expand his horizons in becoming a Programming Department Manager. Under the Managing Director’s supervision, the Programming Department Manager is in charge of day to day operations of a large programming team working across multiple projects and platforms.

Ubisoft Chengdu is a studio where people are eager to learn and develop themselves, offering the Programming Department Manager the ability to improve workflows and overall productivity in an environment that appreciates his efforts.

Responsibilities

• Oversees programming department day to day operations
• Manages a team of 30+ programmers
• Conducts performance evaluations
• Monitors efficiency
• Staffs programmers across multiple projects
• Takes appropriate disciplinary measures when required
• In charge of budgeting of the programming department
• Recruits new programmers
• Identifies strength/weakness and training needs of programmers
• Communicates with other Ubisoft Studios or External vendors
• Acts as mentor and role model for the upcoming lead programmers and technical directors

Other Responsibilities


• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years in the game industry
• At least one shipped title as a lead programmer
• Deep understanding of the game making process
• Excellent presentation, organization, time management, and cross-department communication skills
• Understanding of Office tools, such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
• Ability to analyze and evaluate risks while proposing solutions
• Motivated to train others and share knowledge
• A passion for creating and playing games
• Ability to manage a large team of programmers of various skills and specialties
• Exemplary self-management/discipline skills
• Good oral and written English communication skills
• Oral and written Mandarin communication skills a plus
