JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Lighting Supervisor to join our team in Glendale, CA.

The Lighting Supervisor will evaluate and recommend improvements to lighting pipelines, tools and procedures for CG productions distributed through multiple sub-contracting studios.
Strong knowledge of Renderman and experience with pipeline optimization for lighting are required.

Responsiblities:
• Establish lighting workflow and procedures and design solutions and tools to increase productivity
• Work with artists and the Digital Producer to implement techniques and solve production problems
• Identify opportunities for efficiencies and propose implementations
• Work closely with department Supervisors to achieve artistic and technical goals for the film
• Identify particularly challenging aspects of the movie and propose options, make recommendations and help manage film complexity
• Be highly aware of the budget and schedule impact of technical and creative solutions
• Troubleshoot information problems between sites to help make misunderstandings do not delay production
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Graphic Arts, related field or equivalent work experience
• Experience as a Lighting Supervisor, Lighting Lead, Sequence Supervisor, CG Supervisor or similar role in CG Animation and/or VFX production
• Notable production experience with CG lighting and compositing.
• Strong knowledge and technical understanding of digital pipeline issues
• Demonstrated understanding of Maya, Renderman, file management systems and render queues, preferably in a Windows production environment
• Ability to present work and communicate clearly to artistic and studio leadership
• Must be able to work in a collaborative environment, taking as well as giving direction with poise
• Experience with distributed productions (i.e. productions involving multiple studios) a plus
• Experience with Unix/Linux a plus
