JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will oversee the setting up of the Visual FX pipeline, and help maintain quality control and the director’s creative vision for the VFX within the movie. You will also participate in team selection and build and mentor artists performance. This is an opportunity for someone who has high level of technical skill and experience working with 3D FX.

Supervise any early development, testing and R&D needed for tool and VFX pipeline.

Review storyboards and script breakdowns for VFX requirements and compile VFX bid in conjunction with the producer.

Lead VFX complexity assessments of scenes and ensures their production feasibility.

Provide solutions and alternatives to creative issues keeping within the style and scope of the film.

Attend daily reviews and briefings and communicate VFX requirements to artists clearly when delegating shots.

Be responsible for day-to-day inter-department work flow in conjunction with Production Manager.

Liaise with IT in overseeing rendering resources and disk space allocation for the production and making sure the pipeline supports an efficient and stable work environment for the team.

Review and advise on department recruitment needs and take part in the hiring process.

Participate, as needed, in artist reviews and performance feedback.
REQUIREMENTS:
Strong technical skills are a must, including proficiency with:
Maya
Houdini
RSL, Python, C++
UNIX/Linux programming
Shader/plug-in writing
Compositing with Nuke
Outputting VFX for Stereoscopic version
Understanding of structures of Asset Management Systems
Anticipate and trouble shoot technical problems and facilitate solutions
Ability to work within a style including a style set by another artist/art director
Understand and pre-empt the vision of the director and art director
Previous experience supervising large teams on complex projects
Has overseen the development of a successful feature film pipeline
Willing to share knowledge and experience with others

Demonstrated ability to:
Work without direct supervision
Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels
Competently and efficiently complete complex tasks in a timely basis
Develop tools for a feature film pipeline
Understanding of colour theory and tonal value
Liaise closely with the lighting/compositing departments
