JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Would you like to become part of the team that includes the creative visionaries behind Drizzt Do'Urden and Spawn? 38 Studios is currently seeking a passionate, experienced software engineer to join the Copernicus team. This is a full-time position with competitive salary, full benefits and 401k, and the chance to be part of MMOG history!
Responsibilities
* Work with team leads and artists to define graphics requirements for the MMO, tools and asset pipelines.
* Implement, maintain, debug and optimize code for graphics systems and tools.
* Improve software pipelines and processes to increase overall team productivity.
* Participate in code reviews and mentor less experienced engineers.
* Facilitate communication between engineering, art, and other departments.
REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge, ability and experience requirements
Knowledge
* Very strong knowledge of C++, 3D math, and DirectX 9 required (DX10 a plus).
* Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
* Experience building large open worlds a plus.
* Experience with Unreal and UnrealEd a big plus.
* Experience with distributed asset pipelines, Beast middleware and SpeedTree a plus.
Competencies
* Excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent organization and efficient time management skills are required.
* Understands how to work on large teams in a deadline-driven environment.
DESIRED SKILLS AND PLUSES:
Background
* Minimum 3 years game industry experience with at least 2 shipped titles, preferably with at least one PC title.
* Must have worked with several different game engines with large code bases.
* Previous MMO or RPG experience is a plus. Some leadership experience with small teams is a plus.
Education:
* Bachelor degree in Computer Science.
