- OVERVIEW:
BLUE CASTLE GAMES (www.bluecastlegames.com) is a full-service, multi-project and multi-platform 3rd party developer located in Vancouver, Canada. The studio was formed in 2005, fulfilling the desire to start a company where creativity, experience and hard work come together to create outstanding games. We are currently a 140 plus-person studio with plans to expand to 150+ through 2008. In its short tenure, Blue Castle has already developed and shipped The BIGS (published by 2K Sports in June 2007) on PS3, 360, PS2, PSP and Wii. We are well underway on three new projects - an unannounced Action title and two Sports titles.
As an Environment Artist you will work within our existing Environment team under the direction of a Lead. This role will have you collaborating in the creation of environments and props from geometry to textures and lighting. You will work alongside and learn from other Senior Artists and Designers, all of whom enjoy a creative opportunity to define the visual aesthetic pushing the envelope in creating higher standards for our games environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess and review your assigned tasks to ensure you achieve quality results on time.
- Manage your personal schedule. Seek help if required and help others when you can.
- Learn the game environment process and grow your art and technical skills.
- Learn the pipelines and get your art into the game. Be independent!
- Learn to work as a valued member of a high-performance team.
- Gather reference materials
- Requirements:
- - 2+ years experience as an Environment Artist where you have been credited in working on at least one AA/AAA game title
- Experience or certification with 3D Studio Max
- Motivation and a proven track record of achieving the highest possible quality
- A demo reel that demonstrates a solid geometry and texture creation ability
- Excellent personal project and task management skills
- Excellent communicator who is open to feedback and constructive evaluation
PERSONAL SAMPLE WORK REQUIRED: including descriptions and responsibilities of your work. Samples or a portfolio which demonstrates solid environmental geometry and texture creation ability. (Online, CD or DVD format) must be included.
