JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Tracking Lead will be responsible for working with the CG & 2D Supervisors to establish department pipeline and processes required to provide stereo camera tracks, object tracks and associated geometry for Fury Road.

The role also requires hands on technical and look development in the early stages of the project. Through the duration of the project the Tracking lead will help maintain quality control over the technical and creative output of the department.

The Tracking Lead will be involved in the recruitment and selection of the crew and be responsible for mentoring and performance managing, and training crew through the course of the project.

Responsibilities

Pipeline & Tool Development
• Build and oversee development of department toolset In conjunction with CG and 2D Supervisors and R&D Department
• Work with R&D Department and other project leads to capitalize on and expand existing tools.
• Provide solutions and alternatives to creative issues with an awareness of the Director’s vision and the VFX Supervisor’s requirements.

Crew Management
• Brief & review team work where appropriate
• Oversee and undertake look development for the Tracking team, and postvis and shot work where required
• Attend daily reviews and briefings and communicate VFX requirements to artists clearly when assigning shots.
• Review and advise on department recruitment needs and take part in the hiring process
• Participate in mentoring, training and performance review and management of the Tracking team
• Be responsible for day to date inter-department work flow in conjunction with Production Manager
• Problem solving within department including escalating issues where necessary

Bid & Schedule
• Work with production to plan department schedules in accordance with the master schedule and milestones
• Assign work to artists and oversee progress
• Provide information on estimates to complete and bid assessments for department work where required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Strong technical skills are a must, including:
• Extensive tracking experience, experience working with stereo tracking an advantage
• Extensive knowledge of 3D Equalizer
• Experience with Boujou, PFTrack and other tracking software
• General knowledge of Maya and Nuke
• Knowledge about the demands of working in a stereo pipeline on a feature film
• Understanding structures of Asset Management Systems
• Anticipate and trouble shoot technical problems and facilitate solutions

Demonstrated ability or experience:
• Understand and pre-empt the vision of the director and VFX Supervisor
• Ability to communicate technical issues to the Production team in a clear manner
• Willing to share knowledge and experience with others
• Experience in leading teams of artists and supervising workloads
• Experience on VFX feature film projects
• Ability to work without supervision
• Attention to detail and thoroughness essential
• Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels
• Competently and efficiently complete complex tasks in a timely basis
