JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working closely with Department & Team Leads and project TDs the 3D Lead will assist the CG Supervisor in establishing the overall pipeline and processes required for Fury Road.

The 3D lead will also assist the CG Supervisor in maintaining quality control over the technical and creative output of the 3D departments throughout the duration of the project to ensure the completion & delivery of Fury Road milestones and goals.

The 3D Lead will be involved in the recruitment and selection of project crew and be assist the CG Supervisor and Department leads in mentoring and performance managing, and training crew through the course of the project.

Responsibilities

Pipeline & Tool Development
• Assist the CG Supervisor in building the stereo live action pipeline for Dr D
• Work with RnD Department and other project leads to capitalize on and expand existing tools.
• Provide solutions and alternatives to creative issues with an awareness of the Director’s vision and the VFX Supervisor’s requirements.

Crew Management
• Brief & review work where appropriate
• Attend daily reviews and briefings and clearly communicate VFX requirements to artists
• Review candidates and take part in the hiring process
• Participate in mentoring, training and performance review and management of the project crew
• Participate in mentoring department leads where appropriate
• Be responsible for day to date inter-department work flow in conjunction with Production Manager & CG Supervisor
• Problem solving Including escalating issues where necessary

Bid & Schedule
• Work with production to plan master schedule milestones & deliverables
• Provide information on estimates to complete and bid assessments for department work where required
REQUIREMENTS:
Strong technical skills are a must, including:
• 5+ years in VFX feature production
• General knowledge of Maya and Nuke
• Houdini experience an advantage
• Knowledge about the demands of working in a stereo pipeline on a feature film, experience working in a stereo pipeline would be an advantage.
• Understanding structures of Asset Management Systems
• Anticipate and trouble shoot technical problems and facilitate solutions
Demonstrated ability or experience:
• 1+ years experience in leading large teams of Artists and supervising workloads or lead experience one sizable project
• Particular expertise in one area of 3D pipeline
• Extensive experience on VFX feature film projects, particular experience in FX heavy, live action lighting and environment based projects.
• Leadership and communication skills essential
• Understand and pre-empt the vision of the director and VFX Supervisor
• Ability to communicate technical issues to the Production team in a clear manner
• Willing to share knowledge and experience with others
• Ability to work without supervision
• Attention to detail and thoroughness essential
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels
