JOB DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
DisneyToon Studios is seeking an Assistant Technical Director to support the CG Supervisor and other Digital Artists in various aspects of Digital Production. The ATD will work on an assigned show through the term of a project, on a daily basis, in order to head off any technical problems that arise.

This position reports to the CG Supervisor.

Job Responsibilities:
•Solve Digital Production issues that require technical expertise, such as batch file fixes, updating Maya scenes and comp scripts, dealing with file references, and animation transfer.
•Make temporary assets (model, rig, etc.) for use in Layout, Animation, Effects, and Lighting/Comp, while assisting these departments in the asset and shot production pipelines.
•Perform technical checks and size comps on material coming into, or leaving, the digital production dept; this includes, but is not limited to: Maya files, final frames, and design assets.
•Work with our Communications team to supply movie-specific assets or artwork as requested.
•Assist the Technology team with system trouble-shooting, software testing and crew support.
•Document technical specifications for studio tools and processes.
•Provide technical database support for production crews.
•Monitor digital resources for the show, such as disk space and render farm nodes.
•Create mock-ups and visual presentations to support the needs of the CG Supervisor.
•Create AVRs for Editorial as needed.
•Do file conversions.
•Serve as a backup for the Digital Checker.
•Run the digiconform process for final movie delivery.
•Run final color screenings for the Director and Art Director.
REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other analytical science, or equivalent work experience required.
•Practical experience creating tools, automating processes, and solving problems with MEL, Python, and shell scripting required.
•A successful candidate will be familiar with basic modeling, lighting, animation and compositing.
•Experience with Maya, Renderman, MEL, Python and Unix required.
•Film, games, and/or other CG production experience required.
•Experience with GDI (asset management system) is a plus.
•Good written and verbal communication skills are required.
•Must be able to work alone and collaboratively, often with multiple tasks and under deadline pressure.
•Must be open to direction and able to embrace change.
